Dear Fans,
Recently
I was asked by television producers to host an episode of "Murder by
the Book" -- one of CourtTV’s most watched series. (You can see details
concerning the series at the Court TV Web site.) I thought it would be fun to share with you my thoughts and some photos from the shoot.
Enjoy
and don’t forget to watch "Murder By the Book" on CourtTV on Monday,
November 12, 2007, at 10 PM EST. Following the episode, I hope you will
join in on a discussion about the show on the Web site discussion board. I’ll be popping into the discussion from time to time just to keep everyone on their toes.
Enjoy,

David

Court TV recently visited my office in Northern Virginia to film an
episode of "Murder By the Book" with me as the host of the show. This
is the lobby of my office. Can you tell which author works here?

The "Murder By the Book" director came with some last minutes changes
to the script. There are always last minute changes.

Television people like teeth, and they also like shadows!

The hidden world of television magic revealed for the first time!

The lighting guy was there making sure I look my best!

A quiet contemplative moment before all hell breaks loose. "Lights, camera, action!"

And a little prayer never hurts.

The DP at the helm of the camera, which is on tracks. Actually I wanted
to ride the little TV cart, but they wouldn’t let me. I’m not a union
member.

Me in the “library” of my office. On a television shoot you hurry up and wait a lot.
And no, I’m not just sitting there -- CourtTV is doing a lighting check before doing the shot.

About to give my inaugural address, or maybe just start the show.

In my office setting up another shot.

And you smile a lot. They like you to smile a lot, even when you’re talking about murder!

Chatting with the crew which helps pass the time. Or signing bookplates
during the shoot. Who says men can’t multitask?

Following the show I’m telling another tall tale off camera. Can’t help
myself. “My last bestseller’s sales were more than big. Really!”

My official portrait to be used on the new nickel and postage stamp.

The world of mystery. Ah, so comforting to a thriller writer.

The "Murderer’s Row" lineup.
