Visiting Holmenkollen Ski Arena in Oslo
Holmenkollen is more than just a famous ski jump arena where national and international ski jump competitions have been held for years. It is also a place where locals go to work out (just try running to the top and see how out of breath you get!), and to enjoy great views of the city, and it offers an assortment of fun experiences for thrill-seekers, just north of Oslo.

The fun and adventurous activities include the Kollensvevet Zipline, and the opportunity to rappel down from the top of the ski jump tower. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, but still would like a taste of adrenaline, the Ski Simulator gives you a sense of what it’s like to sit at the top of the tower before soaring off on your skis.
A visit to Holmenkollen isn’t complete without a trip to the Ski Museum, the world’s oldest museum dedicated to the sport. It opened in 1923, and offers insight into 4,000 years of skiing history. There are more than 2,500 pairs of skis on display, some having belonged to Norwegian royals and athletes. The oldest pair of skis in the museum date back to CE 600!

Holmenkollen is located almost 9 km (5 mi) northwest of central Oslo. Subway line 1, in the direction of Frognerseteren, services the nearest subway stop (helpfully named Holmenkollen). From Jernbanetorget, the travel time by subway is 26 minutes.
