Carl Hixson Named Hachette Book Group Chief Information Officer 

NEW YORK (Aug. 31, 2026) – Hachette Book Group (HBG) announced today that Carl Hixson has been named Chief Information Officer by Brendan Goss, Group Chief Information Officer, to whom Hixson will report effective September 14. 

In this new role, Hixson will lead the company’s digital and technology operations sitting at the intersection of strategy, enterprise program delivery, business intelligence, application development, and stakeholder leadership. He will be responsible for accelerating digital technology based on data-driven decision-making and operational excellence. Hixson will manage infrastructure modernization and operational functions including supply chain, finance, distribution, rights, product and information management, quality assurance, and more. This new role replaces Puneet Kukkal, SVP, Chief Information Officer, who will depart HBG on September 11.

Hixson has decades of experience spearheading enterprise-wide programs and driving successful completion. He most recently was Chief Technology Officer of SRMG, the largest integrated media group from the Middle East and North Africa. Serving across TV, digital, print, and film, the business delivered to more than 172 million people in seven languages across four continents. Hixson partnered with world-leading media brands such as Warner Bros. Discovery to bring the best global content, high-quality production expertise and premium entertainment to local audiences, delivering stories, ideas, and experiences. Prior, he was Chief Product and Technology Officer at SHE Media, a Top 10 Lifestyle media company featuring a diverse community of publishers developing inspiring content. He also held leadership positions at Pearson Education, McGraw Hill, as well as HBO.
