Little, Brown and Company to Publish PROMISE ME, AMERICA, President Joe Biden’s Account of Four Defining Years in American History

The presidential memoir goes on sale November 17, 2026.
NEW YORK, NY (July 15, 2026) — Little, Brown and Company announces the international publication of PROMISE ME, AMERICA, President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s personal account of his historic presidency—and four of the most consequential years in American history—capping more than half a century of public service to the nation. AP reported on the book announcement.
The book will go on sale November 17, 2026, and is available for preorder now wherever books are sold.
On January 20, 2021, just two weeks after a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Joe Biden took the oath of office as the forty-sixth president of the United States. He inherited a nation in crisis: a mismanaged and politicized global pandemic, rising unemployment, crumbling infrastructure, and some of the deepest economic divisions since the Gilded Age and political divisions since the Civil War.
President Biden released a video message earlier today talking about PROMISE ME, AMERICA in his own words.
President and Publisher of Little, Brown and Company Sally Kim says, “Every president has a different story to tell. President Biden’s dedication to this country, his years of service and commitment, and his belief in the promise of America have been a constant source of inspiration for millions of us. We at Little, Brown are so proud to publish his singular story, one that will be as lasting and important as the political legacy it will record, written with the same honesty, clarity, and rare courage that characterized the president’s unparalleled lifetime of service. In these uncertain times, PROMISE ME, AMERICA is a much-needed reminder of the resiliency of the American spirit, of what democracy looks like, and of our responsibilities to one another—and it’s the book we all need now.”
PROMISE ME, AMERICA is the story of a lifelong public servant who once more stepped forward to serve the nation he loves—this time as president. It details the challenges he faced, both at home and across the world, at a moment of maximum consequence, as well as the decisions he made and why he made them. PROMISE ME, AMERICA is the story of a nation that is being confronted yet again with how to defend, protect, preserve, and renew our faith in one another and our commitment to the fragile experiment of American democracy.
It is the former president’s third published book.
President Biden’s first book, PROMISES TO KEEP, chronicles his life of public service and was followed by the #1 New York Times bestseller PROMISE ME, DAD, published a little more than two years after losing his oldest son, Beau, to cancer. Both books were intimate reflections on a life of family and service.
